Finding an arrest warrant in St. Clair County is not an easy task because the county courts do not maintain online resources for searching records. While there are several state resources online for searching criminal case records, they are only registered and charge a fee. However, do not give up because there are ways to search for outstanding warrants in St. Clair County, but you will need to make a trip to the court courthouse.

St. Clair County Courts

If you want to research case records, you will need to visit the St. Clair County Clerk of Court’s office. Staff cannot give legal advice; however, they may assist you by providing information about current or past criminal cases. Because the Circuit Court and District Court can both issue arrest warrants for the county, it is essential to ask for warrant records from both courts. There are two locations for the clerk’s office. The Ashville office is located at 100 6th Avenue, Suite 400, Ashville, AL 35953 (telephone: 205-594-2184), and the Pell City office is located at 1815 Cogswell Avenue, Suite 217, Pell City, AL 35125.

St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office

Because active arrest warrants are served by the sheriff’s office, requesting information on outstanding arrest warrants from the sheriff’s office is an excellent way to gain information about warrants. The St. Clair Sheriff’s Office also has two locations. The Ashville office is located at 48 6th Street, Suite 300 in Ashville, AL 35953, and the Pell City office is located at 1610 Cogswell Avenue, Suite 206 in Pell City, AL 35125.

St. Clair County, AL crime rates

In St. Clair County, the annual crime rate was 637 cases in 2018. The listed offenses included 221 violent crimes and 416 property crimes.

Aggravated assaults had the largest number of complaints in the violent crime category, at 208 cases. With 255 reports, larceny-theft was the most common property crime. Burglary reports came in second, accounting for 130 cases.

During the ten years from 1999 to 2008, almost 11,000 crimes were reported in St. Clair County. Of those crimes, only 9% were violent. Crime rates increased in St. Clair County by 62% overall, with violent crimes increasing by 57% for that period.
